A-GRASS 2025: Our Last Day in Vietnam: Exploring Saigon Together

Our final day in Vietnam was a journey through the heart of Saigon, filled with iconic sights, local flavors, and memories that my wife and I will always treasure.
We began our day at Saigon Centre, one of the city’s most modern shopping malls. Surrounded by high-end boutiques and a lively atmosphere, we took in the buzz of city life before stepping out to explore Saigon’s historic sites.
Marveling at the Saigon Central Post Office
Next, we visited the magnificent Saigon Central Post Office. This stunning building, with its classic French colonial architecture and grand clock above the entrance, stands as one of the city’s most beautiful landmarks. Despite a bit of rain, the area was alive with tourists all eager to capture the perfect photo and experience a true piece of Saigon history.

Notre-Dame Cathedral Basilica of Saigon

Just a short walk away, we arrived at the Notre-Dame Cathedral, which was undergoing restoration but remained impressive. The towering scaffolding couldn’t hide the church’s grandeur, and we were moved by the peacefulness of the statue of the Virgin Mary standing guard in front. The lush gardens and famous Diamond Plaza in the background completed the classic Saigon cityscape.
Local Flavors at a Street Food Stall
Before ending our adventure, we decided to sample Saigon’s famous street food scene. At a bustling roadside stall, friendly vendors greeted us with big smiles and offered fresh sugarcane juice, passion fruits, and local snacks. The sounds, scents, and colors of the market reminded us what makes Vietnamese street food so special: warmth, energy, and real local flavor.

Cherishing Every Moment

Spending our last day exploring Saigon’s blend of old and new was the perfect way to reflect on our Vietnam adventure. Whether walking through grand colonial buildings, visiting sacred spaces, or sharing a simple street snack together, every moment was a reminder of how travel brings us closer—both to each other and to the world.
